My Answer - Try my class, infact try a few, before you right off restorative yoga. It is a practice! Your mind has been stuck in “ON” mode for so long, it’s going to take some practice to switch it off and get into the body. Many of the classes I teach have been especially designed to help those just like you. They purposefully start by getting the wriggles & busy-ness out of the body and mind, only then do we settle down into the restorative poses, and give the permission to rest.
As a stressed out Mom of Neurodiverse kids, living in London or Silicon Valley, I know how hard it feels! I’ve spent years researching, taking trainings & trially myself, so that I can bring you the ultimate class.
This chronic stressed out way many of us are living our lives is negatively affecting every system of the body. Learning how to get back into healthy flow of the Nervous System is a crucial practice, infact many scientists/medics would say it’s a lifesaving, or at least, a life enhancing & life prolonging practice. Training your body and mind to go back to it’s natural rhythm so that it can rest, digest and heal is key. This takes you out of merely surviving, and into thriving.
Restorative yoga is a restful practice that is gentle on the body. A restorative yoga class allows the body to slow down and relax in different poses also called postures or asanas.
Each pose is held for longer than a conventional class, to allow your breath to connect to your fascia (connective tissue) The long holding of poses is often assisted with props such as folded blankets, blocks, bolsters to ensure the body is fully supported and to allow the muscles to relax.
Yoga Fusion is a holistic practice that blends elements from Taoist and Indian yoga traditions. It includes Hatha Yoga poses, qigong, Taiji Quan, self-massage, philosophy, and meditation to build awareness across mental, emotional, energetic, and physical levels. This class is more workshop-oriented than a typical workout.
Restorative yoga is incredibly effective for stress and anxiety reduction. It actively engages the parasympathetic nervous system, often called the "rest and digest" system, which counteracts the "fight or flight" response. This shift helps to lower stress hormones like cortisol, calm the mind, and reduce feelings of anxiety, leading to a profound sense of peace and well-being.
